Eko AAC is a free, offline-first augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles and how.
Eko stores the following on your device only — never on any server we operate:
Android's system backup and device-transfer of Eko's data are disabled at the manifest level, so this information does not leave the device through those channels either.
The only network requests Eko makes are to
ARASAAC at
api.arasaac.org and static.arasaac.org, and only
when you actively search for a pictographic symbol. Each request transmits:
Eko does not transmit your boards, your photos, your voice usage, or any account identifier. Eko has no account system.
Eko contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. The only third party it contacts is ARASAAC (above). ARASAAC is operated by the Government of Aragón, Spain; their terms and privacy statement are at arasaac.org/terms-of-use.
Eko is designed for users of all ages, including children, and is commonly used by caregivers, therapists, and educators. Because Eko does not collect personal data from any of its users, it does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
Because all of your data lives on your device, uninstalling Eko removes every board, phrase, photo, preference, and PIN hash associated with the app. There is nothing we hold on your behalf to delete.
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated and material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
